Time to start running! We want your child, and every child, to be as happy and healthy as possible. One way to accomplish this is to get them exercising and having fun. Being a part of the LRCA team in the Little Rock Kids Marathon will do just that.
This year’s race will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015, in downtown Little Rock. Your child will need to be between 7-12 years old to participate.
- To register your child, go to www.littlerockmarathon.com. Follow the tabs to The Little Rockers Kids Marathon site and register under the “Little Rock Christian” group. Registration is now open. The fee is $20 per child through December 31, and increases to $25 on January 1. This fee includes your individual race registration, an official race bib, and a Little Rockers Marathon t-shirt.
- In addition, we will have LRCA team t-shirts made to be worn on race day! The cost will be $15. An order form will be sent home at a later date.
As part of the 2015 Little Rockers Kids Marathon, presented by Today’s THV, our goal is to build physical endurance, while teaching valuable lessons on making health and fitness a regular part of life. We also want to assist your child in setting and accomplishing a long-term goal and enhancing his/her self-esteem.
This Year’s Program – HOW IT WORKS:
Your child will run/walk 25.2-miles between now and the end of February. In lieu of group training program, this will be accomplished during sporting events, a regular exercise program, or as a family activity. It will be your responsibility to log your child’s distances weekly. Once you have registered, there are forms online to help you track your child’s progress. The final mile will be completed on race day, when your child will run/walk the final mile on the official Little Rock Marathon course and cross the finish line, where they will receive a Little Rockers Kids Marathon Finisher’s Medal.
On race day, we will have a team of parent/teacher volunteers that will be serving various roles to insure the safety and security of your child. This includes, pacers that will run alongside each LRCA age group, as well as a group in the safety zone/holding area at the end of the race. If you as a parent are interesting in volunteering on race day, please contact me for more information.
I’m excited to be a part of this year’s Little Rockers Kids Marathon, and I believe your child will too. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. My contact information is below.
